These classes are designed to help singers perform in all the classical repertoire venues. Whether a singer is performing in an audition, an opera, a recital, a concert, a competition, or in a church, we examine how to be effective in the presentation of arias, songs and religious music. Each situation is different and each musical piece should be presented differently.

Our focus is on how to prepare and present music in a musical, dramatic and effective manner. We emphasize the importance of singers connecting to their emotions to express their characters, then we find the methods of expression that are unique, clear and exciting.

Personal limitations such as tension, nerves and distracting habits are identified and eliminated. We then add effective gestures, emotional expression, interpretations, and musical values. Most singers don't fully understand what the ingredients of an effective interpretation are and how to express them.

One of our major goals is to increase the awareness of singers so that they can discriminate between a good and bad performance and learn to eventually become their own teachers. We help them establish high standards and give them the tools to achieve them.

A video camera is used so that singers can see exactly what they are doing while performing and review their performance many times at home. It is one of the very best learning tools available for the serious singer.

The music singers bring to class is what they are working on in their musical lives. We want to improve the quality of whatever they are focusing on whether it is performing, working in another class, or learning repertoire with a coach or voice teacher.
