In the Washington D.C. summer workshop, we also have a Director's seminar in which several directing students learn the important basics of directing opera - how to decide on a clear concept, how to design effective staging, how to work with singers, how to use the music in a dramatic manner, and how to impart staging and technique for a strong performance.
